Apart from poverty and economic reason, distance to centers of learning is an enormous stumbling block to further education among the children of working families in West Kalimantan. Those children who managed to go to school walk as far as 4-5 kilometers for many days to reach the nearest school. This is not a walk on a plain path but in rugged terrains and forested areas including crossing dangerous rivers in rainy days or in hot humid temperatures. This alone is enough to discourage the most courageous of hearts. Most often, when a child gets to the nearest government school and learns how to read and write, that will be the end of it. As young as 10, when strong enough to carry a load, off he/she goes to help his/her family bring home the dough. Or due to the family's poverty and inability to support their children, children are traded or sold and further used for economic gains by other people. Moreover, children coming out from families as a result of religious persecution and victims of natural calamities suffer the silence of pain and hard work with a bleak hope for any future. These children abound and cry out daily for help and immediate assistance.
Bring the school to where the children and their families are. A school means a complete educational institution that will not only cater to the intellectual needs of the children but also to their physical, social, emotional and spiritual well being. This brings us to the following activities:
1. Build a total of 20-classroom Senior High School Building complete with Chemistry, Physics and Biology Laboratories, Computer/Language Laboratories and Library. The building also includes a Teacher's Room, an Office Room, Student or Conference Room, a Property Room and 6 Rest Rooms.
2. Build a 32- bedroom with a double decked beds per room School Orphanage/Dormitory to house children. A School Dormitory presently doubly serving, as an Orphanage is for the moment the best solution. The dormitory is complete with a kitchen, a large dining hall, a receiving lounge, a Property/Store Room, a Matron's Room, and Office, 5 baths and 7 Restrooms.
3. Build a 7-room, 14-bed capacity School Clinic. This of upmost important for the school facility due to distance or inaccessibility of medical institutions and unaffordable medical cost. It also caters to the medical needs and emergencies of the school's immediate community.
